On March 22, 2014 we held our annual Kids in the Kitchen event at the downtown YMCA. Amanda Figge, a dietician at Springfield Clinic, spoke to the children and parents about healthy snack choices. The children made trail mix and yogurt parfaits and then learned about good food choices and an active lifestyle through playing games. Meanwhile, the parents had an in depth session with the dietician to learn new food ideas and gain advice for busy parents who want to feed their kids healthy meals. The event wrapped up with an exciting zumba class. We owe a debt of gratitude to Jill Steiner and the entire staff at the YMCA for pulling together to make this a successful and fun event for all.
